OsloKapp 2026 - Tournament Report
Del på FacebookThe first game of the weekend started off as one would expect for a team who hadn’t had much time to gel and were getting to know one another. We came out slow against Pancake giving them a headstart, before we finally found our groove and strung together a few more passes. We lost the game by 1 point but were not disappointed with the performance given our “semi-pick-up” status. 9-10 final score.
Game two was potentially our best game - we played TSI and had a convincing win where a brilliant offensive flow appeared out of nowhere and the points stacked up in our favour. We were consistent on defence and with a bit of help from windy conditions, we made their long game a struggle. 13-2 final result.
Game three was our most frustrating - we came out even slower than against Pancake and went 4-0 down against OSI. We managed to find our footing (but none of the flow from the previous game) and started putting some points on the board. However, OSI worked hard to keep their headstart and held us out of the game. So Saturday ended on a lackluster note - but at least people could head to the party and have a team dinner! 10-11 at the end.
Sunday started early with a game against Brickers and then Bærum - on paper the toughest two teams at the tournament. Despite that, we worked hard and spent the game against Brickers trading (up and down-wind). Despite even a few silly drops (sorry!) they never ran away with the score and we kept fighting the whole time. Eventually they took the win, but we were not disappointed with the result. 9-12.
Following the loss to Brickers we had a break before playing Bærum. Again we came out hard and more consistently than previous games and traded for the first half - but then we got mentally and physically tired, Bettina on Bærum started killing it, and they ran away with the score (and the game). But, not a loss to beat ourselves up over - Bærum knew what they were doing and changed tactics to beat us - they even commented that we had been their “hardest game” of the weekend (so far) - quite the compliment! 6-13 at the death.
Our last game was the fight for 5 place - we were matching up against TSI again. TSI had grown over the weekend and had better connections on offence, including some beautiful deep shots they were missing the day before. They also knew how to stop more of our flow, so the game was tight and we were trading for a lot of it. The final score went in our favour after our offence was a bit more clinical and TSI had a couple unfortunate drops in the end-zone. 13-8 to end on a high.
All in all, 2 wins from 6 games, could have been better, but plenty to work on as we start building for the indoor season!
Key learnings? Warm-up more, throw more before games, work on game focus.
Key highlights? The whole team being involved in some points/plays, some beautiful flow on O, rock solid D the whole tournament and of course, bonding as a team throughout. The 2x8 hour car journey definitely helped 5 of us with this!
SOTG? Well, we came joint first! Though the organisers awarded it to TSI… but we aren’t going to mention it, good spirit and all. But overall, a solid weekend, no standout moments that were bad, and the good points always got mentioned in the spirit circles - so a good experience all round!
